Homesteading Holiday Gift Guide 2019
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Tis the season!
The holidays are racing near (WHAT???) and holiday shopping is one of my favorite past times. I love shopping the sales, wrapping gifts, and basically everything about it. I live for giving gifts, so it’s always a thrill planning who gets what and hunting down that perfect present!
I wanted to compile a list of my favorite Amazon products that a homesteader, crazy chicken lady, farmer, or outdoorsman/woman would love and find useful. In addition to listing Amazon gifts I want to feature some of my favorite small businesses and handmade items! Amazon has become such a life saver for items I cannot find locally. And since I’m about an hour from any large shopping mall it’s super helpful when I don’t have the time to make the trek into the city.
But for those extra special gifts, check out my list of wonderfully unique handmade items! Consider supporting one of these talented and passionate artisans, artists, & makers this holiday season.
I’m going to designate the listed products from $ being the least expensive to $$$ being the most expensive. That way it will be easy for you to scroll through and search for a gift in your desired price range.
(And THANK YOU to all the small businesses that allowed me to use their photos and showcase their awesome items!)
Rubber Boots + Clogs by Sloggers ($$)
My mom got me a pair of Sloggers for Christmas years ago and I never looked back. I thought finding a pair of muck boots that wouldn’t crack or get holes in them after 6 months was impossible. But the Sloggers I have are super soft and comfortable. They’re made of a flexible rubber that doesn’t get brittle and crack over time. They are high quality and have super cute farm patterns that make me smile every time I put them on. I have the above the boot version and also the short version. They are both awesome! LINK
Artisan Roasted Coffee from Barnyard Coffee Roasters ($)
Who doesn’t love a nice hot cup of coffee on a brisk winter morning? Barnyard Coffee Roasters is a small business based in Washington state. They have a wide selection of beans from light to dark roast and even holiday flavored options like gingerbread!! Order a selection of beans and keep them on hand as extra hostess gifts or even for gift swaps! But make sure to keep a stash for yourself too…..

French Press by Le Creuset ($$)
If you want to take your coffee themed gift to the next level, look no further than the Le Creuset French Press. A french press, some flavored Barnyard Coffee, and maybe a few stoneware mugs would be a perfect gift basket idea! There is no better way to savor fine coffee than brewing it in a french press – it’s so fancy! This is one of those items you would probably feel guilty buying for yourself, so how lovely it would be to receive it as a gift. Definitely tell Santa this one’s on your list. LINK
Velvet Scrunchies from The Hare & The Hatter Homestead ($)
I am obsessed with these handmade scrunchies! Total 90’s throwback. They come in a rainbow of colors and you can purchase them individually or in a pack of 3 (or buy like 50 because they’re amazing). Be sure to check out her other listings like dryer balls and crocheted cup cozies! LINK

Hand Beaded Jewelry + Lanyards by Wild North Fermentation ($$)
When I found Jasmine’s Instagram account I was blown away by her bead-work. It’s absolutely stunning and I’ve coveted a pair of her beaded earrings ever since I started following her. These are high up on my holiday wish list (come on Dusty don’t let me down!) The colors she chooses for her pieces always stop me in my tracks while I’m scrolling – I mean, just look at this lanyard! There is nothing more satisfying as a homesteader or farmer than having a big ole stack of new books to dive into for the new year. Winter is a time for us to reflect on the past season, learn, and research what projects we want to tackle and think about what we could improve. This is why reference books are such a wonderful gift for a homesteader. They can be opened time and time again for knowledge and ideas through the years. Foraging, wildlife identification, canning, livestock, DIY building projects, & gardening are all ideal book topics. The Storey’s Guide series is particularly good for those wanting to learn about introducing a new animal to the farm!
SeCa Hose Holder ($)
This Texas based small business has solved the annoyance of hoses all together for me. When the hot Texas summer had all my animals running for the shade, I used the SeCa to hold my hose in place on the mist setting to keep everyone cool. Before the SeCa I struggled to hang the hose on a nearby branch or fence, constantly fussing to get the angle right and make sure it wouldn’t fall down into the dirt. Same for watering my garden. Just wrap your hose onto the SeCa and water away. It’s also an easy way to keep your hose up off the ground so you don’t have to keep bending over to pick it up and fill up watering cans or dog bowls. A really handy tool that any gardener needs! LINK
NutriMill Harvest Stone Grain Mill ($$$)
Ok this one is a total splurge, but it’s one of those homesteading items that really takes your self-sufficiency to the next level. If you grow your own grains or corn for flour, or even if you buy bulk grains this is a really amazing gift. I would rather receive this than a diamond necklace. If you want to win over a special homesteader’s heart this is THE gift. Grain mills are forever <3 . LINK
Soap & Body Products by Blackberry Hill Farm ($)
Handmade soap is one of those gifts that is both beautiful and useful. Liz’s soaps are a work of art and they smell INCREDIBLE. When you receive your box o’ goodies in the mail, you’ll see what I mean. Your whole house will fill up with earthy, natural scents that make you giddy and excited to hop in the bath. My favorite products of hers are the Blueberry & Thyme soap (shown above) and the Awakening Salt Soap. She also crafts natural body scrubs, lip balms, and lotions. LINK

Hori Hori Weeding & Digging Knife ($)
Made in Japan, this quality garden tool is so versatile. I’ve used mine for everything from digging up bermuda grass and weeds to chopping down spent tomato plants. It can cut like a saw and it can dig like a hand shovel. It also has depths engraved on the blade so you can dig the right depth hole for planting seeds and starts. LINK
For the Chickens: Grubblies ($)
Grubblies are our poultry’s favorite treat. It is super entertaining to watch them scramble around and gobble them down. They’re made from crunchy and nutritious black soldier fly larvae, grown in the USA. Most mealworm brands are farmed in China, but not Grubblies! They boast 50x more calcium than mealworms, too.
Speaking of chickens…
Chicks & Hatching Eggs from A Rusted Roost ($$)
If you are considering adding to your flock of chickens, consider this small family farm selling quality rare breed poultry like Cream Legbars and Marans. Be sure to consult the recipient of your gift before you buy them two dozen live chicks, but as a self-proclaimed crazy chicken lady, live poultry would be a dream gift! Just look at those cuties!! They are taking pre-orders for Spring 2020 -> LINK

Handmade Farmhouse Signs by Our Someday Farm ($-$$)
Tiffany makes the coziest little farmhouse signs! She can even make custom signs if one of the current listings doesn’t work for you. There are also digital downloads for sale if you prefer to print and frame a design on your own. She will be offering custom address signs that would make awesome housewarming gifts too!! LINK

Fuzzy Pullover from True Grit ($$$)
All I’ve been wearing so far this fall is a fuzzy oversized pullover. These sweatshirts are soft and warm, and make the dreary winter days less dreary and more cozy. There are both men’s and women’s sizing and styles, but I prefer mine to be a little oversized for layering. My dad is the ultimate True Grit collector (I think he has like 4 different jackets of theirs, haha) and his have lasted for years and years. LINK
Hand-Poured Candles by Glaistig Homestead ($)
If you want to keep with the cozy theme, check out Barb at Glaistig Homestead’s new line of hand-poured candles called Pyre. Available in seasonal scents like Bonfire Nights described as, “a sweet marshmallow scent, with a long lasting woody, amber & sugary cotton candy” YUM! I can’t wait to try them! Keep an eye out for her special holiday edition soap scents as well! LINK

Pressure Canner ($$)
Most kitchens have a large pot that can be used for water bath canning, but if you want to can low-acid foods you need specialized equipment. And if you’re like me, you haven’t yet taken the plunge and purchased a pressure canner. So I’m sure than many other homesteaders and farmers out there have yet to jump into pressure canning too! That’s why this pressure canner and Ball canning book would be the perfect gift for someone interested in preserving their own food.
Handmade Natural Gifts by Wildfibre Farm ($$)
Our farm is built around the concept of not wasting any part of an animal and making use of all the natural products we can. That is why I love Wildfibre Farm’s Etsy shop. Pictured above is a gorgeous smudge wand made from foraged materials found on their Canadian farmland. Also available: hand-knit baby booties from their Icelandic sheep yarn and whipped sheep tallow body butter. Love it!

Gorilla Cart ($$$)
Currently, I haul feed one of 3 ways: I carry a single 50-lb bag from the back shed all the way to the front yard, I use a broken and bent wheelbarrow to wheel it, or I pray the lawnmower will start up so I can throw it on the back. All 3 ways are frustrating and inefficient. That is why a gorilla cart is #1 on my list of holiday wishes. Particularly the one that has a 1,200 lb carrying capacity. This is an awesome gift for pretty much anyone that is gardening, animal caretaking, or DIY’ing. Save your family member’s or friend’s back this winter and get them this cart!
I hope this list gives you some ideas for the homesteader in your life (and maybe a few gifts for yourself as well). And thank you for supporting small businesses this holiday season!
